Celebrating the People
Behind our Mission

For over 47 years, RMHC has ensured families everywhere have access to the care and resources they need – especially when they have a sick child. Thanks to our dedicated local Chapter staff members around the world - that promise has never been broken.

We are happy to introduce you to some of the heroic local RMHC Chapter staff members from around the world who dedicate themselves to providing comfort, care, and kindness to RMHC families every day of the year.

Please check back periodically for updates to learn more about how the 5,000+ staff members who make up our 260+ local Chapters dedicate themselves to the RMHC mission.

Please join us in sending some love and gratitude to our local Chapter staff members, who share compassion and positivity each and everyday with families utilizing our programs.

RMHC Peru

The team at RMHC Peru bring so much love and positivity to the families they serve. Even in a midst of the pandemic, they found ways to increase their interactions with families by making their volunteer program virtual rather than face-to-face. They also arranged for meals to be delivered to families who weren’t able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House due to COVID restrictions.

RMHC Korea

The staff at RMHC Korea along with over 130 local volunteers has found ways to spread love and happiness to families using their programs. They’ve planned numerous activities for families, such as movie nights in the garden at their Yangsan House, as well as gardening and cooking lessons, enabling them to bring some levity and creativity to families despite various circumstances.

Maureen and Alexandra are housekeepers at the Chapter’s Camberwell Ronald McDonald House program. They take great pride in going above and beyond to help provide comfort, care and kindness to families with children receiving treatment at the nearby hospital. Watch this video of families thanking them for their hard work and friendship.

RMHC Fiji

When their Ronald McDonald Family Room program was forced to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, RMHC Fiji staff found ways to support families. They organized basic essential packages for all patients that were now confined to in the Colonial War Memorial hospital in Suva. Due to the severity of COVID at the hospital, some children were restricted from seeing their mums. The RMHC Fiji team put together 66 packs including diapers & wipes and had it delivered to the hospital. This was indeed very much appreciated by both the families and partner hospital as well.

RMHC Capital Region

Throughout the pandemic, the team at RMHC Capital Region in Albany, New York stepped up to fill gaps in their “Love is Served” meal program. Almost every staff member has either cooked a dinner at the House program or sponsored a meal purchased from a local restaurant. Many have done this numerous times. When they expanded “Love is Served” to offer bagged lunches at the Family Room program, staff quickly volunteered to shop for supplies, prepare sandwiches, and deliver lunches to the hospital five days a week. Each team member has been more than willing to take on new responsibilities in order to provide comfort, care and kindness to families despite any COVID-related restrictions.

RMHC Italy

While hosting three families with seriously ill children from Afghanistan, the team at RMHC Italy in Palidoro came together on very short notice to make the families comfortable. They not only provided a place to stay near the children’s hospital in Rome, but they also provided extra support and resources to these families who had no personal items, food, phones or pocket money. Reflecting on this experience, Maria Chiara Roti (Executive Director of RMHC Italy) noted, “We are all human beings, and we all need support at some time. Humans are both fragile and strong at the same time….The response to this emergency has been important to RMHC Italy simply because it has given us a chance to do the right thing, which is our value of Integrity.”

RMHC Northwest Florida

Due to COVID-19 protocols to protect our families, volunteer groups were restricted at many locations. That meant finding new ways to provide meals to families. Paula Walker, weekend manager, who is famous for her perfect grilled cheese sandwich, has helped to fill that gap. Knowing that the smallest kindness can make the biggest difference, Miss Paula has come in multiple times on days off to make a grilled cheese feast for staff and families. She is often at the Chapter’s House program on weekends and gets requests from families to skip the fancy dinner & just make them a grilled cheese sandwich. She stands all of 5 feet tall, but her giant heart and spirit makes her mighty.

RMHC Oregon

“I love being able to extend kindness to families when they feel afraid and stressed, and I am so grateful I get to call this my work home! My role has changed so much since early 2020, but I am so thankful that we are able to continue to provide a home away from home for families that really need us right now. The goal of all of this is to stay open for our families and to find small ways to remind them that they are not alone. Some of these families won't get the joy of taking their children home and we want to be here for them, no matter how dark their days become. It’s a privilege to be able to provide them with this precious gift of time with their kids.”
